Arthritis

Arthritis is a disease which is defined as an inflammation of the joints. There are over 100 forms of arthritis and it can affect anyone at any age.

Symptoms caused by the inflamed joints are pain and discomfort. Sufferers may experience joint stiffness, swelling, redness, tenderness and warmth in the affected area.

If you suspect you may have arthritis make an appointment with your physician immediately. He or she will do a complete exam, review your history, examine your joints for any deformities, and order tests as necessary. Examples of tests that may be ordered are blood, urine, and x-rays. If necessary, you may be referred to a rheumatologist who specializes in arthritis and related diseases.

People with arthritis are able to live productive and normal lives. Depending on the type of arthritis that is diagnosed, mediation may be necessary to reduce the pain.
