MODESTO - The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors
addressed a busy agenda when they met Tuesday morning after a two-week hiatus.
Among the items passed on Tuesday’s crowded agenda were a wide
range of measures, including:
- A proclamation designating December 2002 as “Drunk and Drugged
Driving Prevention Month” throughout Stanislaus County.
- Approval of a project agreement for continued environmental monitoring
at the closed Geer Road landfill.
- An ordinance adding no-parking zones in Denair on the east side of
Merced Avenue south of Zeering Road.
- A measure which authorizes the chairman of the board to send a letter
supporting the formation of the San Joaquin Valley Conservation and
Development Council by the U.S. Department of Agriculture - as well
as taking steps to ensure the inclusion of Stanislaus County as a council
participant.
- A project which will make improvements to the Fishing Access at the
east end of Turlock Lake, including work such as road improvements,
nature walkways, culverts, signs, picnic tables and litter receptacles.
- Approval of the closure of all libraries at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec.
31, 2002, in observance of New Year’s Eve.
- Permission to submit a preliminary $100,000 budget to the California
Family Health Council for a Peer Provider Teen Clinic, which is charged
with the mission of reducing unwanted teen pregnancies and sexually
transmitted diseases and to be located at the Paradise Medical Offices;
and to additionally begin providing such services at the Hughson Medical
Office.
- The addition of a chapter to the Stanislaus County Code to hike the
fingerprinting fee from $5 to $10 within 30 days.
The board will meet next on Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. in its basement-level chambers,
located at 1010 10th St., Modesto.
