This benefit event, in its 18th year, is scheduled for April 23 at East
La Loma Park, off Edgebrook Drive west of El Vista Avenue. Run for Health,
which celebrates National Public Health Week, is actually three races
at these distances: five kilometers, 10 kilometers and one mile, with
walkers welcome in the 5K and mile events. Registration is $12 in advance
or $14 the day of the event for adults, and $7 for ages 12 and under.
Organizers said participants will get T-shirts, while they last, and raffle
tickets. Run for Health is sponsored by the county's Family Practice Residency
Program and the Health Services Agency Foundation, and representatives
said proceeds will go to the foundation's Reach Out and Read program.
To register or for more information, call Cora Hernandez at 576-3523.
