As a sixth Californian died from West Nile virus on Wednesday, Stanislaus
County health officials reported four new cases, two involving a toddler
and a teen.
Two girls, ages 17 and 2½, were diagnosed with the virus, but
neither was hospitalized, according to Dr. John Walker, the county's public
health officer.
A 72-year-old man became Riverside County's second West Nile-related
victim, according to public health officials.
