Have trailers, will travel.

Stanislaus County tested that system today, setting up two, 28-foot trailers that can offer medical care for 72 hours in the event of a disaster.

The trailers, bought with a Homeland Security grant, will be able to handle 50 acutely ill patients. Stocked with medical supplies and equipment, the trailers also can be used for triage, field treatment or to shelter medically fragile patients, a county news release said.

County Health Services Agency employees practiced setting up the trailers today.
