County – The April edition of the Stanislaus Health television
program will be featuring a special episode on emerging diseases and their
impact on the community. SARS, West Nile virus and Avian Influenza will
be featured.
The 1918-1919 Spanish Flu was a global disaster killing between 20 –

and Prevention, when speaking of the emergence of Avian Influenza recently
stated, “most people who are looking at this recognize it is a very
ominous situation for the globe in terms of statistical probability.”
Also, Dr. Shigeru Omi from the World Health Organization has stated “The
world is now in the gravest possible danger of a pandemic. We need to
consider urgent and decisive action in radical new ways.”
