Stanislaus
County – Lloyd Douglass, manager of the East Side Mosquito
Abatement District has announced mosquito counts from traps that were set
before and after the spraying of Thursday, August 18, 2005 in the area bordered
by Briggsmore, McHenry, Scenic and Oakdale Roads in Modesto.
The results of the trapping indicate a significant reduction (50%-60%)
in mosquito counts due to intensive ground spraying.
The focus continues to be on ground spraying. Aerial spraying is still
an option in the event of an increase.
Jerry Davis, manager of the Turlock Mosquito Abatement District has announced
an increase in spraying in Denair, and east of the Denair community.
The East Side and Turlock Mosquito Abatement Districts continue to ask
Stanislaus County residents to check their homes for backyard breeding
sources to help protect the public.
