County – The December edition of the Stanislaus Health show
features the Avian Influenza. The threat of Avian Influenza has sent shockwaves
around the world. Fears of poultry becoming infected and a possible flu
pandemic have fueled the public's need for information.
Join host David Jones as he sits down with Bill Mattos, the President
of the California Poultry Federation to hear about avian influenza concerns
from the poultry industry. Dr. Carol Cardona, a veterinarian, teacher
and consultant with UC Davis and Dennis Gudgel, the Stanislaus County
Agriculture Commissioner discuss the possible impact on the local animal
population. Finally, Dr. John Walker, public health officer and Suresh
Mahabashyam, epidemiologist for the Stanislaus County Health Services
Agency, engage in dialogue on the human impact of Avian Influenza.
The locally written and produced show is presented by the Health Services
Agency Foundation and the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency.
The program airs on Channel 7 on the Comcast system and Channel 19 on
the Charter system.
