WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program
WIC families can now use the new California WIC Card with a quick-response (QR) code to shop at local WIC authorized farmers' markets. The QR code allows families to buy fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farmers.
Shopping at farmers' markets with WIC supports local farmers while providing families with fresh, seasonal produce. Currently in Stanislaus County, Modesto Certified Farmers Market and Turlock Certified Farmers Market has vendors accepting WIC's digital Farmers' Market Benefit and monthly Fruit and Vegetable Benefit. Modesto farmers market dates: 8/16, 8/21, 9/11, 9/20, 9/25
Turlock farmers market dates: 9/6
Visit a participating vendor to redeem your $30 Farmers' Market Benefit and your monthly Fruit and Vegetable Benefits
Step 1: Shop at a WIC authorized farmers' market.
Step 2: Show your new WIC Card, and the farmer will scan the QR code.
Step 3: Confirm your purchase by entering your PIN.
Benefits to Shop With
Farmers' Market Benefit
WIC Families may qualify to receive $30 in additional benefits (per family) to buy locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs at WIC authorized farmers' markets.
The last day to spend your $30 is November 30th.
- Farmers' Market Benefit may be redeemed at any WIC authorized farmers' market.
- Farmers' Market Benefit can be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs ONLY.
- Eligible WIC families will be able to see their Farmers' Market Benefit amount on the California WIC App.
Monthly Fruit and Vegetable Benefit
The new California WIC Card supports fruit and vegetable purchases using your monthly Fruit and Vegetable Benefit at farmers' markets all year-round.
- WIC families can now buy fresh produce at the farmers' market using the monthly Fruits and Vegetables Benefit.
- Monthly Fruit and Vegetable Benefits can only be used to purchase fruits and vegetables.
- Herbs, meat, and other foods are not included.
- The monthly Fruits and Vegetables Benefit is available all year. The benefit amounts are:
- $26 per month for children ages 1 to 5
- $47 per month for people who are pregnant and postpartum
- $52 per month for people who are breastfeeding
- $78 per month for individuals breastfeeding more than one infant
